P7 Miss Chisholm 25-26

We enjoyed an afternoon of trying on costumes related to our context of The Jacobites. We looked at the different items of clothing and we all had opportunities to either be a Jacobite or a Redcoat. Thank you to the Art Gallery in Perth for the loan of the topic box.
Primary 7 have enjoyed planning, organising and running a coffee afternoon to raise money for Macmillan. They worked hard to plan a variety of activities and it was very well supported by families and the community. We raised £400! Well done Primary 7!
For Maths week, we did a variety of extra maths activities over the week including a problem solving puzzle each day, a live lesson with Edinburgh Zoo looking at how they use maths in their jobs and outdoor learning using sticks to estimate and then measure a metre.
We are currently taking part in Bikebility and have been enjoying going out on the our bikes, come rain or shine!! We start each session checking over our bikes and helmets using the 'M' check and then have been cycling out into the village practising U-turns, left turns and right turns at junctions.
P7 spent time on the moving up morning deciding which of the articles on the UNCRC were the most important for us in the classroom. From there, we wrote statements to support what duty bearers and right holders could do to meet these rights. We did a class vote and decided on a Capybara theme to display our charter. Each child is represented by their own Capybara.

Start of Term:
P7 reminded themselves what a growth mindset was. We discussed the language surrounding this and the difference between a growth and a fixed mindset. We identified what using a growth mindset in our classroom would look like and how we can support others to do the same. We spoke about something we can’t do YET and how we could achieve it.

Our school core values of Welcoming, Inclusive, Safe, Achieving and Respectful provide the foundations for everything that happens within school life. The class created posters to show examples of how you can be WISAR and were able to identify examples of WISAR in others. We loved using our skills in drama to create freeze frames. Can you guess what it is we are doing in them?
